Speak with Gaepora
Back on Skyloft, head to the Knight Academy and speak with Gaepora — he’s in his room on the second floor.

You’ll learn about two whirling sails mentioned in Zelda’s song.

Exit the Knight Academy and run down the road along the western edge of Skyloft. The first windmill — whirling sail — is on the right side of the road.

Hit the pinwheel with the Gust Bellows to turn the windmill. Go slowly — it’s easy to overshoot your target. You want the windmill to point at the tower in the Plaza.
You’ll know you’re lined up when the shield on the back of the windmill lights up blue.

You’ll find the second windmill at the top of the hill in the southeast corner of Skyloft.

Approach the windmill and speak with Jakamar. He’ll tell you to talk to Gondo at the Scrap Shop.
Speak with Gondo

Speak with Gondo in Skyloft’s Bazaar. He’ll tell you about Scrapper and ask for an Ancient Flower that he needs to repair it.
You probably have one (or several) from your time in Lanayru Desert and the Lanayru Mining Facility. If you don’t, head back there and search one out.
Once Scrapper is repaired, Fi will add windmill parts to your dowsing menu. Gondo will then point you to Sparrot.
Speak with Sparrot the Fortune Teller

From Gondo, turn around and speak to Sparrot. Pay 10 rupees and ask him where to go next.
He’ll tell you to head to a mountain of fire … just down the mountain from this temple — Eldin Volcano.

Fly over to Eldin Volcano and drop in at the Temple Entrance bird statue.
Turn left from the temple doors, and head west. Look down the hill at the tower you knocked over to pick up piece of the key 2 way back when we here before.

The Windmill Propellor we need is on the ground right next to the tower. Have Fi call Scrapper to come get it.
Find a bird statue, return to the sky, and fly back to Skyloft.
Turn Windmill 2
You’ll land at the second windmill automatically, and Jakamar will install the Windmill Propellor. Hit it with the Gust Bellows to turn it until it faces the tower in the Plaza.

Spin the windmill until the shield on the back lights up.
Light Tower
Climb to the top of the tower. Pull out the Goddess’s Harp and start playing.

Fi will sing along with you, and the tower will rotate, sending a beam of light into the huge storm clouds to the northwest.
Inside the Thunderhead
Call your Loftwing and fly along the beam of light into the Thunderhead.

Keep traveling straight until you reach the island the beam is leading you to — the Isle of Songs.
Isle of Songs bridge puzzle
Your first task on the Isle of Songs is to rotate some rings to build a bridge.
There are three blocks that represent parts of the bridge — you need to get all three lined up between here and the tower.
There is also a grid-like block just to the left of the central pillar. This raises and lowers various stops around the discs that prevent pieces of the bridge from turning.

To line up the bridge, follow these steps:
- Hit the rightmost crystal on the grid.
- Spin the discs until the first and second blocks line up at about the 1 o’clock position.
- Hit the left crystal on the grid.
- Spin the discs one click.
- Hit the top crystal.
- Spin the discs until all three blocks line up at the 11 o’clock position.
- Hit the top crystal.
- Spin the discs one click.
Cross the bridge and crawl through the tunnel. Save at the bird statue on the other side.

Walk forward and hit the altar with a Skyward Strike.
During the cutscene that follows, you’ll learn Farore’s Courage, a melody for the Goddess’s Harp that will open your first trial in Faron Woods.
