Reflectors in Human Design(Calibrators in Quantum Human Design) are people who are highly sensitive to their environment because they have no defined centers in their Human Design chart.
They can mirror or “reflect” the energy around them, and their decision-making process is unique in that they benefit from waiting a full lunar cycle (28 days) to gain clarity before making major decisions.
Reflectors are often seen as barometers of the health and well-being of their community because of their ability to absorb and reflect the energies of others.
Reflector (Calibrator) Strategy
Reflectors should follow the strategy of wait 28 days, specifically waiting for an entire lunar cycle, to gain clarity before making major decisions.
Given that Reflectors have no defined centers in their design, they are deeply influenced by the lunar cycle and the transits of the moon through the 64 gates of the I Ching.
The “Wait for a Lunar Cycle” strategy suggests that Reflectors should give themselves approximately 28 days (a full lunar cycle) to make important decisions. This allows them to experience the influence of the moon through all the gates in their chart, giving them a more holistic perspective and clarity on the decision at hand.
By observing how they feel throughout this cycle, Reflectors can gain a deeper understanding of what is correct for them. It’s a strategy that emphasizes patience and reflection, enabling them to align more closely with their true nature and the environment around them.
Reflector (Calibrator) Authority
- Wait to Respond: Reflectors are advised to give themselves around 28 days (a full lunar cycle) when considering significant decisions. This period allows them to feel out the decision from various angles as the moon shifts through the gates in their design.
- Discuss with Trusted Individuals: During this waiting period, discussing feelings and observations with trusted friends or confidants can provide clarity. Reflectors can gauge their reactions and feelings to insights offered by others, helping them understand what feels right for them.
- Assess Their Environment: Since Reflectors are like mirrors of their environment, the health, dynamics, and energies of their surroundings play a significant role in how they feel. If a Reflector is not at ease or feels out of alignment, it might be more about the environment than the individual. Therefore, being in the right environment with the right people can be crucial for their well-being.
Reflector (Calibrator)
Signature
The Reflector’s signature is surprise.
Reflectors, when aligned with their design, often experience a sense of surprise.
This doesn’t necessarily mean they are constantly shocked or caught off guard. Instead, it refers to a sense of wonder, an openness to the unexpected, and an appreciation for the unfolding mysteries of life.
When living correctly, Reflectors can marvel at the synchronicities and unexpected delights the universe brings their way.
Reflector (Calibrator)
Not-Self Theme
The Reflector’s Not-Self theme is disappointment.
When Reflectors are not living in alignment with their strategy and authority, they may feel a pervasive sense of disappointment.
This could manifest as feeling let down by situations, people, or even by life itself.
This feeling is an indicator for Reflectors that they might be making decisions too hastily or not waiting for clarity through their lunar cycle, or that they might be in the wrong environment.

Reflectors in Human Design (in depth)
Reflectors in Human Design (Calibrators) are truly unique beings ruled by the magnificent moon. You can almost see the radiant light of the moon in their faces. May you find that all the Reflectors in your life are beacons of joy, and that bodes well for them as well as for us.
Representing less than 1% of the population, they are the rarest of the Human Design types. They are a truly unique, unusually sensitive person who must be in the right place with the right people to experience true happiness. They should be honored and valued by those around them, as they serve a truly unique role that can help the rest of us make decisions that can improve the welfare of all.
Reflector (Calibrator) Characteristics
Reflectors are reflections of their community. They are proponents for peace and prosperity, talkative, passionate, and unique. They need consistency to combat their sensitive nature and struggle to stay grounded.
Human Design Testing – How Can I Find Out What My Type is?
Your Human Design BodyGraph will let you know what your Human Design type is. The type is located in the keynotes section. Reflectors can also notice that all of their nine centers are white, or undefined, on their chart. Generate your free Human Design chart here.
Your Life and Purpose
The purpose of the Reflector (Calibrator) is to reflect the health of the community. A happy Reflector comes from a happy community. An unhappy Reflector lives in an unhappy community.
Because the nature of the Reflector is to be energetically reflective, the conditioning experience of the Reflector does not seem as harsh as it can feel for other types. They are designed to be deeply conditioned by their environment, and because they have such little consistency in their charts, they can reflect something new quite easily without much trauma.
The Reflector’s (Calibrator’s) Role In Business
These types have a challenging role in business. Time might be money for the business world but time is a necessary expense for the Reflector. They are a non-energy type and are not designed to work a typical 8-hour work day, leave that to the Generators! This means they need to build a team to run their business so they can focus on their strengths of communication and creating community.
Reflectors are here to sample energy and reflect the health of the community. They need to be cautious of the business they engage in so they do not disappoint themselves, or worse reflect negative energies. When they are in business with others who appreciate them they will reflect that appreciation and inspiration back.
Famous Reflectors (Calibrators)
If you are a Reflector you are in the company of many other reflectors, including:
Sandra Bullock, Uri Geller, HG Wells, Rosalyn Carter, Richard Burton, Dusty Springfield, and Robert Urich.
How Common Are Reflectors (Calibrators)?
Reflectors are the rarest of all Human Design types. Making up only 1% of the population, they are truly unique.
What Are The Biggest Challenges?
Reflectors experience so much energetic change from within themselves, and from others, that every day in the life of a Reflector can be inconsistent and volatile. It’s hard for them to know what is stable and reliable.
The only solution is to take time with all choices and to make sure to process ideas with trusted friends and family. Of course, taking long periods of time to gain clarity isn’t always easy to do in our culture, and they are often pressured to make quick decisions that end up being incorrect and disappointing.
Reflectors have a deep awareness of the full potential of humankind. What happens in the world can impact them on a deep level. War, suffering, and injustice can truly wear down their spirit. Traumatic events, even a world away, can cause them tremendous pain. It’s important for them to watch their mindset and to find a strategy to cope with the disappointment and pain they experience.
Strategy and Purpose
Reflectors are lunar beings. The moon makes a complete cycle through each of the sixty-four gates every twenty-eight days. As the moon moves through their chart, it brings with it consistent changes in definition. Because of these consistent changes, they can anticipate energetic and decisive days based on their lunar cycle. Their strategy is to wait twenty-eight days (the cycle of the moon) to make a decision.
It is very helpful for a Reflector to get a Human Design reading. A reading will show them the exact changes in their chart over the twenty-eight days of their cycle so that they can know which days in their cycle are consistent for certain activities and decision-making.
As you can imagine, needing to wait nearly a whole month to make sure your decision is valid can be difficult in our very fast culture. So it follows that the emotional theme of the Reflector is disappointment. They often experience disappointment in their decisions because they didn’t wait long enough for clarity. They can regret their choices and be stuck with unhappy consequences because they were pressured to make a fast decision.
They also experience disappointment because, by virtue of their openness, the Reflector can be deeply wise about the extent of human potential, and they can so clearly see when humans don’t live up to their potential.
While a Reflector is waiting out their twenty-eight days, it is important that they understand their need to talk about their decisions with others as they have no inner authority. They can only know the truth of their decision when they see it reflected through others. It is vital for them to have a consistent group of friends who make them feel good, and who will listen and support them in their decision making. Because of the inconsistent nature of their energy, they need consistent auras that they can rely on.
Reflectors also need to follow their only true inner authority, feeling good. When they feel good where they are, they are in the right place. If they don’t feel good somewhere, whether they are in a restaurant or at their job, it is important for them to leave. If they are in a restaurant, they can leave immediately; but when leaving a job, it’s good practice to take a full twenty-eight days to be sure that leaving is the correct decision.
Once the Reflector waits twenty-eight days to make a decision, then they can do whatever they need to do to act on that decision. If they need to quit, they can just quit. If they need to move, they move. No more waiting is required after that. Although they can need a lot of alone time to discharge excess energy, especially Sacral energy, Reflectors also need others. A quiet, hermetic life is not correct for them. In a perfect world, we would all know who the Reflectors are in our community and would make sure they are feeling good and happy because their happiness reflects the happiness of the community.
Your False Self
The false self theme is a way to know that you are not honoring your type and authority. The false self shows up to remind us to take a moment and reconnect with our design. As a Reflector your false self theme is disappointment.
It is disappointment in an opportunity, a relationship, or an experience that did not work out the way that the Reflector thought it would. To avoid this disappointment they need to take their time and allow themselves to wait a full lunar cycle before making decisions. In a world that thrives on quick decisions, they must go against the grain and take their time.
Your Auras: Teflon, Sampling And Resistant
Many assume that Reflectors are weak, or even vulnerable, because of their open centers. This is far from the truth! Their open centers are the source of their strength. In other Human Design types, the open centers are a polarity to their defined centers, but this is not true for Reflectors. They do not function with binaries.
The Reflector aura repels the energy of others. Like a non-stick skillet, the Reflector aura creates a barrier of protection that samples the energies of those around them. This “Teflon” coating only takes in specific information and energies.
Open centers are a great source of wisdom and because Reflectors only have open centers they are deep wells of truth and wisdom.
Your Lunar Type
Human Design types are solar except for the Reflector which is the only lunar type. As the moon moves through all 64 gates during its 28 day cycle they are granted access to the gates definition. Others may view them as inconsistent because of their connection to the moon. This inconsistency is a false perception because they are consistent but only in their unique tie to the lunar cycle. You can not truly understand a Reflector until you witness them through the whole lunar cycle.
How To Deal With A Reflector (Calibrator) In Your Life
The Reflector in your life needs a lot of love. They need good people around them to make sure to fill their open centers with positive energy. Remember that they may seem clingy when they are dealing with disappointment. They need a lot of alone time to discharge others’ energy and they will seem inconsistent until you get used to their consistency with the lunar cycle.
Tips For Reflectors (Calibrators)
As with all other non-Sacral types, Reflectors may have trouble sleeping. Making sure that they get time to lay down in bed before falling asleep is important for good health.
With their open centers, they also need significant alone time to discharge the extra energy from their body. Remembering alone time is sometimes challenging for a person who needs and is designed to be with others, but it is healthy.
Although a Reflector can have more energy than any other person due to their open nature, they do not have within them any inherent consistent energy. Because of this, hard physical exercise or labor is not correct for them. Again, what feels good is probably good for them as long as they remember when enough is enough and do not overwork themselves.
Because the Reflector is here to reflect the health of others, they may not always be able to see their own health. Because of this, they need consistent people in their life who know them and can help them recognize if they become ill. When a Reflector becomes ill, it is important, of course, to take care of their body, but it is also vital to look at the community to see if there isn’t also something within the community that is making the Reflector ill.
