Hanwell Methodist Church

Hanwell Methodist Church's Wednesday Club meets about
once every month usually on the second Wednesday of the
month in the evening at 8:00pm. The group have a varied
programme each year which consists of musical evenings,
entertainment, social gatherings, demonstrations, talks and similar activities. Printed programmes are usually available at the back of the Church in the display stands.

All are welcome to attend any of the meetings. If you require further information then please contact one of our stewards.

The current year's programme of activities up to the summer break in 2019 is published below. Most meetings start at 8:00pm and use our Centenary Room as the meeting venue.  Tea, coffee and other refreshments are served at each meeting.  There is usually a small charge of about £1 to cover the cost.

Some events such as a trip to the theatre or a barbeque may not be held in the Church or start at 8:00pm. Details of imminent events are usually also listed in the Church’s weekly newsletter and on our Diary page.

Do you have an interest?

The Wednesday Club are always looking for guest speakers and demonstrators to invite to their social events.  If you have an interest that you would like to talk about, then please get in contact with one of the members.  You can find names and contact details in the Club’s printed programme available on the back pew shelf in Church.

8th October
The Church Wednesday Club invites you to their first social evening meeting of this Methodist year. The evening will be a talk by Richard Clayton, a shipping journalist at Lloyds List.

Please note that this event will be held on a Tuesday.

The venue is our Centenary Room. All are welcome and tea and coffee and light refreshments will be served.
23rd October
Our Church Wednesday Club will be having an extra meeting with an outing to St. Benedict's School to see the GLOC Theatre Company production of Top of the Glocs being put on by this local amatuer dramatic theatre group who use our Church premises for their practice sessions.

The event will also include supper. Note the slightly earlier start time. Details and costs will be published in our Church weekly newsletter.
13th November
Our Wednesday Club will be hosting a Murder Mystery Evening in the Centenary Room.

If you survive and are not the one that is murdered then you may be able to partake of the tea, coffee and refreshments which will be served.
11th December
The Wednesday Club will be holding a Christmas Variety Show incorporating festive food, fun, laughs and friends.

Everyone is welcome to join in the event which will be held in the Church Centenary Room.
20th January
The club are planning to have a 241 restaurant meal and cinema evening. Watch out because the start time may not be the usual time of 8:00pm.

12th February
Time for our local Churches to battle it out in this annual Quiz Evening.  This is the time when it will be a battle of wits between teams from Churches such as St. Mellitus, Our Lady and St Josephs, and Hanwell Methodist. Other local churches may be added to the list if they think they have a chance of taking home the trophy!  Who will be the 2020 champions? You need to be there to find out.

Our Church will be looking for our awesome and highly intelligent members (that's just to put the other teams off) a little nearer the time. Please come and support us. The venue is our Church Centenary Room. The evening will be hosted by Colin and Gill.

Even if you don't think you will know any answers, you can still come and partake of the refreshments that will be served.
11th March
A talk on Cambodia and Vietnam led by Chris and Suzanne Rawlings.

The meeting will be held in the Centenary Room. All are welcome to listen and then enjoy the refreshments that will be served.
8th April
The three P's: Puddings, Poems and Puzzles.

This was a first last year and given its success we have it on our programme again - but with different puddings, poems and puzzles.

All are welcome to participate and refreshments will be served in the Church Centenary Room.
13th May
Led by Jane Stanton the Wednesday Club will be holding an evening of Try Your hand at the Ukulele. You are invited to have a go at strumming a tune.  Sorry, we don't yet know what the tune will be!

After all those wrong notes, refreshments will be served.
10th June
The club will be holding a BBQ evening where you can enjoy fine cuisine and company in Steve and Carol's garden round that log fire again.

8th July
This Wednesday Club meeting will be a Planning Meeting to determine the Wednesday Club's 2020/2021 programme of events and activities. If you have got something to offer or a hobby or interest you would like to talk about, or even if you have got ideas of what items could be on the next season's programme then you will be welcome to come along to the Centenary Room to add your contribution.

In exchange for your ideas, you will be offered tea, coffee and cake... and the Wednesday Club offer a very good cup of tea, coffee and cake.

Please do come along with your ideas for next year's programme.
